Carol’s three highlights from Osborne’s Budget Statement
Local Scottish Labour Candidate, Carol Mochan, has picked 3 significant highlights from George Osborne’s Budget Statement. Carol explained
“First, Labour has forced a Tory U-turn on cuts to Tax Credits. The pressure of local people backing our campaign out in the streets to the winning Labour motion in the House of Lord’s worked together to stop him in his tracks. Don’t be fooled, the cuts are still coming through the new Universal Credit benefit but the immediate threat has been lessened. My second highlight was the confirmation that again he has missed his target for deficit reduction, broken his promise and we face 10 years more of Tory austerity. My third point is the stark forecast of oil revenues of only £130 million instead of the £8 billion the SNP promised us a year ago."
